i've become spoiled

i have an iMac retina 5k with an Apple 27" external monitor
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)
4 GHz Intel Core i7
24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4 GB

and now i HATE looking at the 2560x1440 Apple monitor
that i loved dearly not so long ago

so i want to get a 4K monitor to replace it

but i also do screen sharing with an old mac mini
Mac mini (Late 2012)
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000

i've been looking at this one...

i'm confused about what it's going to take
to get it all to work

i'd appreciate any experience/ideas from you

thanks

The graphics hardware of a Late 2012 mini is limited to 2560x1440, so
that ought to be the most you'll get from it via Screen Sharing.

i can live with that

screen sharing is for only one very specific task

only a few minutes a day

most of the time it will just be my second monitor
